Opera

OPERA represents a new form of industry-university collaboration that reflects the special nature of the modern Oil and Gas Technology. The mission of OPERA is to conduct the highest quality research in emerging, important areas of Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Technology, by joining the unique strengths of universities and TOTAL in concurrent, collaborative efforts that are both broad in scope and deeply penetrating in exploration.

OPERA operates in an open fashion, promoting a powerful, multi-directional exchange of new ideas, technology, and people. It plays a leadership role in the creation of new international research system making a bridge between academi1c study and product development. The activities of OPERA are project-focused with an active, constantly evolving agenda that opens new directions for research and industry. Projects involve researchers from TOTAL and different universities over the world.

:: Postdoc position available ::

Opera is seeking outstanding PhD students in geophysics who wish to persue a 12-month postdoc in seismic imaging. Some of our projects topics are prestack depth migration in anisotropic media, data regularisation, velocity model building. Beside the required geophysical skills, applicants must have excellent computer skills and must have a good knowledge of English which is the working language. French is not required but is a plus for the candidate himself.
Opera is a very cosmopolitan team with people coming from Algeria, Belgium, Cameroon, China, Germany, Israel, Italy, The Netherlands, Nigeria, Morroco, Russia, Tunisia and France.
Opera is sponsored by TOTAL and is affiliated to University of Pau. We have excellent computational facilities.
Our offices are located at the university of Pau (South-West of France) at one hour from the Atlantic coast and from the Pyrenean summits (Photos).
